Dorothy Kalins
Dorothy says that she founded Saveur, the award-winning gourmet magazine, which she headed from 1994 to 2001, because she “wanted to connect readers to authentic ingredients, experiences and traditions.” Clearly her ability to do so has extended beyond the gastro-realm: As the founding editor-in-chief of Metropolitan Home, Dorothy became the first woman ever to be named Editor of the Year by Adweek while; as executive editor of Newsweek she helped direct the magazine’s National Magazine Award-winning 9/11 coverage. A principal of Dorothy Kalins Inc., she writes and edits for a number of publications, is frequently asked to speak about the industry and directs the editorial curriculum for the Stanford Professional Publishing Course.
