Draper James
Reese Witherspoon’s shop Draper James feels like stepping into a scene from her 2012 film Sweet Home Alabama. The store, which boasts a quintessentially southern feel, offers womenswear and home décor. The preppy, reasonably priced fashions feel like a cross between the now-defunct C. Wonder and J. Crew.
Emerson Grace
H. Audrey
This boutique, owned by Holly Williams, granddaughter of Hank Williams, Sr., has a slightly more curated selection than Haven, but cheaper prices than Jamie. The on-trend boutique gets new shipments often, so while the store is small, the selection is always changing. Southern accents come through in the limited jewelry selection from mostly local brands (I recently snagged a necklace with an antique whiskey label dangling from the chain.)
Haven
Comparable to an upscale, boutique Anthropologie, Haven sprinkles brands like Antik Batik and IRO amidst pieces from local designers. It is located along a cute street in Franklin, worth meandering if you make the drive out there.
Imogene + Willie
Housed in an old gas station, Imogene + Willie is famous for their custom-made blue jeans (the New York Times reviewed them), and the rustic, well-worn interior is as trendy as the small collection on sale. If you’re not in the market for blue jeans, they have an excellent selection of antiques-looking statement jewelry. Either way, it’s worth stopping in to check the place out and chat with the friendly owners.
Savant
White’s Mercantile
Housed in a remodeled gas station, White’s Mercantile has spiffed up the exterior and filled the retro space to the brim with antique wares of all kinds (and even some gourmet goodies). Owned by the tastemaker responsible for H. Audrey, White’s is supremely well-edited, and the perfect spot to snatch up gifts and momentos.
