The Wine Residence
The Wine Residence, which just opened near People’s Square in central Shanghai, brings the cigar club concept into the world of wine. Located in a restored red-brick mansion, this brainchild of ASC Fine Wines—China’s largest importer and distributor of wine—contains a library, a wine museum, an historic clubhouse, a restaurant, several private rooms and an extensive cellar that also houses 180 36-bottle lockers. The lockers (for storing your own prized possessions until the perfect occasion calls), the clubhouse and the library are for members only but the second-floor Napa Wine Bar & Kitchen restaurant, run by Swiss restaurateur Philippe Huser, is open to the public, as are numerous classes, to be held on the premises, run by ASC experts and aficionados. Annual memberships from $2,000.
