Laris

If Jean Georges is the most opulent option in Three on the Bund and Whampoa Club the sexiest, Laris is the most elegant. A subtle study of light and texture, the restaurant has as its main decorating element the predominant use of slabs of veined marble, which serve as columns, tables and counters. The Australian-Greek owner-chef, David Laris, ran Terence Conran’s hugely popular Mezzo restaurant in London’s Soho before heading east to open here. Prior to that, he had worked in Sydney and various cities in Asia. Signature dishes include beef tenderloin with pancetta, foie gras terrine and porcini mushrooms; and pandan leaf-infused pannacotta with fresh mango puree.

New Heights

This rooftop brasserie is the most casual restaurant in Three on the Bund. With lots of windows and a terrace, it’s a wonderful space in good weather. Diners perched on high stools inside or outside enjoy views of the river. The range of fare is perfect for a light snack or a full meal, with options like chicken with sautéed spinach.
