For a first-time visitor, deciding on where to be based is simple: for those magnificent views of Buda, you have stay along the waterfront in Pest. The Four Seasons Gresham Palace, in a prime location, is hands down the most luxurious property in the city; value-conscious travelers can get similar views from the Sofitel. Accommodations on the Buda side are more limited. There’s a new design hotel, Lánchíd 19, at the foot of Castle Hill with beautiful vistas of the Chain Bridge and Pest. Most travelers choose to stay in Pest, as this is where most of the sights and restaurants are located. If you’ve been to Budapest before and desire a more residential ambiance, the Andrássy, near Hero’s Square and the City Park, is a good option.
