Feyérzsuzsa
Down the street from the Café Central and Ernst Galéria, this tiny boutique is located on an unassuming side street in a neighborhood many describe as up-and-coming (full disclosure: it’s not quite there yet). Young designer Zsuzsa Feyé specializes in handmade bags in all sizes, fabrics and styles. Her sturdy, reversible shopping bags in eye-popping cotton fabrics make great gifts and are easy to take home: you can fold them or fill them with more purchases. Only a small assortment of what she has is on view in the boutique. If you ask to see more, she’ll bring stacks from the back. No credit cards are accepted, so be sure to have enough cash. Closed Sunday.
Retrock Deluxe
This tiny boutique carries mostly Hungarian labels made by avant-garde local designers, including slinky evening wear by Nanushka and innovative designs by Je Suis Belle, the label of designers Dalma Dévenyi and Tibor Kiss, who won the Young Fashion Designer of the Year prize during the Hungarian Fashion Awards in 2007. Closed Sunday.
