I did not make it to the store of this traditional toymaker, located near the Great Synagogue, but their stall at the Vörösmarty Christmas Market sold truly exceptional handcrafted toys, including wooden marionettes and small paper theaters that came with cutout puppets and fanciful sets inspired by Grimm’s fairy tales. My favorite purchase, a hit with my one-year-old goddaughter, was a hand-sewn book by Virág Tóth made of colorful fabrics that features a small bear that fits into different-size pouches sewn onto the pages.
