El Careyes Beach Resort and Casitas
Formerly managed by Starwood Resorts, the El Careyes Beach Resort hotel encompasses a great variety of rooms from standard doubles in the main building to beachfront two-bedroom Master Suites and Casitas with terraces and plunge pools. The architecture and décor blends with the Mexican/Mediterranean style of the rest of the resort, but guests staying here may feel like the odd ones out and that the house renters are the “cool kids” who get invited to all the parties. However, the hotel rooms are not built up on cliffs like the houses, so it’s less stressful for families with little children. There’s a small boutique, a main poolside restaurant and a small spa. For kids’ entertainment, there are a variety of water sports, a game room and a small movie theater.
TIP: Whether you are staying at the hotel or in the houses and would like a babysitter to help with small children, it would be best to bring one with you if you can. This is a remote area so it’s not easy to find English-speakers who can meet the standards that many American moms expect.
