Spice Island Beach Resort
Spice Island Beach Resort may be all-inclusive, but this Small Luxury Hotel of the World and the only hotel on Grenada to receive a AAA Four Diamond rating is far from mass-market. Adjacent to Mount Cinnamon, the beachside property, owned by Sir Royston O. Hopkin, is done in the all-white style that’s sprouting up throughout the Caribbean. But set against the sands of Grand Anse, Spice Island’s 64 stucco suites (which are scattered throughout the property in one- and two-story buildings and cottages) are undeniably chic. The interiors pair creamy backgrounds with dark wood and rattan furniture. The whole stunning but modest vibe is what makes “the Spice” the island’s top address for many repeat visitors. Note: The resort’s Gatsby Boutique carries La Perla swimwear in case you forget to pack your suit.
Rooms to Get: The villa-like pool suites, completely enclosed with their own private plunge pools and gardens, are well suited to couples seeking a bit of seclusion. Unfortunately, they also remove the romantic thrill of the less expensive beachside suites (where you step out your door onto sand). The newly added Cinnamon and Saffron Suites, however, bring the larger, villa concept to the shore for couples who want more of a view. They’re also perfect for families, as each can connect to an adjoining beach suite. (The Cinnamon attaches to one with a king-size bed, the Saffron to one with two doubles.) From $805 (high season); from $635 (low season).
