Destination: Hawaii: Maui

Overview Text Size A A A

Unlike the Big Island, most of whose grand resorts are found in one region, Maui has several primary locales. Lahaina and Kaanapali, in the west, have nice resorts and many upscale townhomes. These days the rage seems to be for Wailea, in the south, where an enclave of luxury resorts, most built in the past twenty years, is headed by the Four Seasons. Or you can get away from it all at the Hotel Hana-Maui, at the end of the fifty-two-mile Hana Highway and so far from the rest of the island, it has become a destination of its own (bring a good book, or two or three). If you want to stay in Upcountry, look for a B&B; they’re just about everywhere.
