The first—and only—fashion shop in town when longtime resident Pip Simmons (of Ocean View Club) opened it, Miss Mae’s is still run by Simmons, and thanks to her inimitable taste, it’s one of the island’s finest clothing boutiques. India Hicks, a British aristocrat and former Ralph Lauren model, co-owns Sugar Mill, a store that stocks caftans designed by her sister-in-law Allegra Hicks as well as casually chic party clothes. Six days a week, customers can browse through a line of Nicole Schumann jewelry made exclusively for the shop, OndadeMar bikinis and jeweled Sita de Vesci sandals.
