Buzo Restaurant

The last time I visited Sydney, I was dismayed to discover that Buzo was no longer in its Paddington home. Luckily, my dismay was short-lived: it had moved up the road to swankier premises. The decor is elegant (dark gray walls, intimate banquettes) without being stuffy, and the food is divine. Order the vincisgrassi, a lasagna with porcini mushrooms, proscuitto and truffles—it’s rave-worthy.

North Bondi Italian Food

Don’t be fooled by the name; Maurice Terzini’s newest joint, at the northern end of Bondi Beach, may be named for its location, but it’s a happening trattoria-style restaurant. The wait for the scrumptious antipasti, seafood and pasta dishes can be long, but the bright young things perched at the bar sipping Bellinis and people-watching don’t seem to mind.
