Aquapura, Itacaré
Iconic British designer and hotelier Anouska Hempel, who lives a fabulously stylish life at home and has allowed others to do so in her hotels, knows a stunning spot when she sees one. On a prime beach between Txai and the town of Itacaré, she is creating her first beach hotel. Many locals were wary of a glamorous outsider upsetting the mellow vibe of the region, but the owner is reportedly sensitive to community concerns. The modernist villas, which were originally to be called Warapuru, are being hailed as James Bond-inspired hideouts. Despite an initial projected opening date of late 2008, the resort is now slated to be finished the end of this year. The management team wisely hired Hans Heinz, who formerly ran the Fasano in Sao Paulo, to run the new Aquapura Hotels company, and he will surely bring his flawless taste and attention to detail to the resort and its sister properties.
