Castell

Michael Bassermann, a long-time visitor, recommends:

“This fabulous hotel is located in Zuoz, a quaint Engadin town about a twenty-minute drive to St. Moritz. It is run by owners of an art gallery and the interiors are full of modern art. There’s also a tower installation by American artist James Turrell, which was created for the hotel in 2005. The restaurant at the Castell is excellent.”

Editor’s note: Rooms from $255 (two-night minimum) during high season.

Languard

“My wife and I have found a chic little family-run hotel called the Languard in the middle of the village. It has a view of the lake from almost every room, where some of the rooms even have paneling that is centuries old. They only serve breakfast, and there is no night desk.”

From a longtime regular visitor from N.Y.

Editors’ note: Double rooms from $250 during the winter season. Minimum stays apply during high season.
