Alpina Hütte
2550 meters, Corviglia

For good reason, Alpina Hütte has long been one of the most popular spots for lunch mid-mountain. There’s a wonderful outdoor bar where skiers can sit back in lounge chairs and warm up in the sun. Come for the Gluhwein, the music and the people watching.
Bergrestaurant Lagalb

Michael Bassermann, a long-time visitor recommends:
“The amazing
Diavolezza-Bernina-Lagalb
ski area is close to Italy (from the top of the mountains, you can see it) and you can easily spend a day exploring here. Take a break at the this excellent hütte. Tip: walk through the self-serve area to the back and sit in the Stübli. Also the so-called Bernina Haeuser are very good as well.”
Corvatsch/Furtschellas
On the Slopes
Long-time visitor Michael Bassermann on his favorites in the Corvatsch area:
“At more than 3300 meters, the Corvatsch is one of the area’s top peaks and the surrounding ski area, including Sils and Furtschellas is fantastic. There are several cozy restaurants on the slopes to recommend if you spend a day skiing here.
The Kuhstall (+41-81-838-5005; www.kuhstall-sils.ch) on Furtschellas is very nice and has good food. On the Corvatsch, I love the Alpetta (+41-81-828-8630; www.alpetta.ch) and the Fuorcla Surlej (+41-81-842-6303). The restaurant at the base station of the Corvatsch, meanwhile, serves amazing fish soup.”
Paradiso Hütte
Via Engladina/Rondolins

Remember the opening scene of Charade when Audrey Hepburn first gets a glimpse of Carey Grant? It was the archetypal ‘60s jet-set scene on an outdoor mountain terrace with skiers in tailored parkas and glamorous sunglasses. Paradiso could be where the scene was shot so well does it evoke the fabulousness of being in rarified Alpine air. Even when you can’t get a table outside, you won’t be disappointed because you’ll get to enjoy the views from vast glass windows and the light wood interiors blend cozy and chic so well, you won’t want your meal to end.
Paradiso Hütte Advice
From a member who visited in February 2008
“Paradiso on the slopes of Corviglia has two areas
outside. One on the lower level where they have a more extensive menu and is a bit more expensive, but the delicious part of it is that they have chaises longues with sheep’s hair to lay down after lunch and doze in the sun. But on the upper level it is fantastic as well.”
