Destination: Tokyo

Overview Text Size A A A

Tokyo is one of the food capitals of the world, with an estimated 300,000 eating establishments ranging from hole-in-the-wall noodle shops to fine restaurants that can hold their own with the best in Paris. In Tokyo, apartments are small and working hours long, so dining at home is impractical, the main reason for the staggering number of outlets. The most excellent sushi and sashimi place would blow a massive hole in the most generous budget, as would dining at Tokyo outlets brought to you by Gordon Ramsay (Conrad), Alain Ducasse (Beige) and other über-chefs, but there are also plenty of intermediate options. Just make sure you study the right-hand column of the menu more carefully than usual.
