Santa Barbara has such gorgeous temperate weather (between 65 and 75 degrees just about all year) that on the twenty-some days a year that it does rain, the town comes to a virtual halt. “It’s so rare that people don’t like to drive in the rain,” explains one East Coast transplant. “And after a few years of living here, I’ve come to agree with them. At the first sign of a shower, I cancel trips to L.A., even dinner out.”
