If my kids were younger and I was visiting London, I know where I’d stay: the Athenaeum on Piccadilly. This is a friendly hotel that takes the stress out of traveling with the junior set. Located close to Hyde, Green and St. James parks, the Athenaeum has eighteen fully-serviced, stylish apartments that come with their own front door. So if little Tiger is being beastly, the rather public lobby area can be easily avoided.
Three nannies are on call with up to five hours of complimentary babysitting per visit, and the dedicated kids concierge ensures that a family’s favorite toys, drinks, snacks, magazines and music are awaiting their arrival in the apartment. The kids’ concierge is also happy to prepare a customized family itinerary to complement the hotel’s family newsletter. The hotel makes the most of its setting, close to the parks, offering its young guests bikes, kites, bird seed and picnic baskets with lots of treats (the honey is sourced from beehives a stone’s throw away in Regents Park).
