Crawford Market
From Fiona Caulfield, author of the Love India travel guide series:
“The best food shopping remains at this historic market located on Lokmanya Tilka Marg and Dr D. N. Road, Fort.
For photography, catch the early-morning light on produce being unpacked. Make sure to wander through to the rear of the market to see the abundance of fresh produce, particularly wonderful in mango season just before the monsoon. Rudyard Kipling’s father, who ran an art school in Bombay, did the lovely friezes on the exterior of the purpose built market, constructed in 1865. Nearby is the Utensil Market.”
