Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace

If you have a Girl Scout in your group, consider a visit to the birthplace of the organization’s founder, Juliette Gordon Low. The National Landmark house, where four generations of Gordons lived, contains many of Low’s treasures, including pieces of her pottery and family furniture. Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed Wednesdays.

Wilderness Southeast (WiSE)

The non-profit educational outfit Wilderness Southeast offers wonderful nature tours, canoe trips and hikes for groups and individuals. You can join one of their scheduled weekend tours or hire a naturalist guide for yourself. All of the walks focus on the wildlife of coastal Georgia but range in length from two hours to a full day and cover everything from River Swamps & Reptiles, Salt Marsh Walks and Wild Island Explorations to Exploring the Night Sky and an Urban Walk in the city. Many of their guides are university professors or parks professionals who love sharing their passion for the outdoors, biology and education.
