My favorite part of any trip tends to be the food. When I think of Chicago, my thoughts immediately turn not to some architectural triumph, but to Alinea. Say the word “California” to me, and farmer’s markets and artisanal cheeses spring to mind. LA has an incredibly varied dining scene.
Top concierges will normally insist on the same roster: Spago, Mr. Chow, XIV and so on, which remain solid choices.
