Itineraries

Many Americans wind up visiting Qatar because of business but for leisure travelers, I would recommend visiting in one of two ways: One, if you’re planning a trip to Asia—particularly to India or somewhere like the Seychelles, Maldives, or Sri Lanka, fly with Qatar Airways and slot in a long layover in Doha.

Spend the morning exploring the desert, the afternoon at the Museum of Islamic Art, and the night at the souk. Or alternatively, organize a trip that encompasses the three capitals of the “new Middle East” with a few nights each in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha. Each is less than an hour flight from the other. This kind of whirlwind vacation could be accomplished in a week and would afford a great glimpse of the wild imagination and lavish lifestyle fueling that corner of the world.
