Generally speaking, the better Hong Kong tailors are in the arcades of the five-star hotels, or a mere brogue stride away. They may cost a tad more than the backstreet johnnies—whose aggressive touts thrust cards into the hands of every passing tourist—but they have passed muster over long years. The proprietors know too well that just one dissatisfied customer can lead to a hotel concierge inquiry, with all its negative consequences.
