The city’s two best hotels are the Sacher and Goldener Hirsch, though smaller boutique properties have also crept up in recent years. Outside the city, a palatial option is Schloss Fuschl or the congenial Schlosswirt zu Anif. Writes one Indagare member and longtime Salzburg habitué: If you’re staying just one night, it doesn’t make sense to be based outside of Salzburg proper, but for a multi-night stay, I would prefer Fuschl and Anif. It’s beautiful to be based in the gorgeous countryside that surrounds the city.”
