The Franco-Brazilian designer who has built an empire on the subtlety of perfectly tailored white shirts, Anne Fontaine has added a spa to her flagship store on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré. The space on the bottom floor of her boutique was designed by the legendary Andrée Putman, who is also working with Fontaine on ten new stores in Japan. The serene Right Bank oasis has a steam room, Jacuzzi room and all of the treatments incorporate Fontaine’s own new line of eco-friendly products. One favorite indulgence: the dolce de leche scrub.
Located near the Opéra Garnier in the 9th arrondissment, Cinq Mondes, the showcase branch of this highly professional French spa company, boasts treatments from all over the globe. On Tuesday and Thursday, it’s open until 10 p.m. Closed Sunday. Métro: Opéra.
Opened in July 2008, the Dior Institut at the Plaza Athénée joins two beacons of style on Avenue Montaigne. Occupying some 5,000-square-feet, below the Grand Plaza lobby, it’s the first hotel spa ever created by Christian Dior Parfums. There are six treatment rooms, a sauna, hamman and relaxation lounge. Many of the treatments have been specifically designed for the spa using Dior’s high-end L’Or range, which incorporate Yquem grapevines, said to be the most powerful antioxidant ever discovered. Open daily: 8am – 10pm.
From the subtle jade wallpaper and polished light wood floors of the sparkling-new treatment rooms to the blue tiling that makes the pool floor look like a glistening oriental carpet, the Espace Bien-Etre softly echoes the hotel’s overall Asian-infused décor. Treatments featuring CARITA’s haute beauté products range from hot stone massages to anti-wrinkle facials. For those who want to work up a sweat, there is a sunlit state-of-the-art fitness center. In warm weather the landscaped outdoor patio adjoining the indoor pool deck, makes a lovely spot for a post-cardio fruit juice or light snack.

Aside from the hotel spas, this is the best space to get a massage in Paris, and it is located in a handsome apartment with oak herringbone-parquet floors instead of the clinical settings in which spas are too often found. And prices are reasonable—an hour-long facial or massage runs $115. Reserve two weeks in advance for a facial, one week in advance for a massage. Closed Monday. Métro: Tuileries.
The chic editor from Do It In Paris, an online fashion magazine based in the French capital, recommends this new spa:
Situated in a quiet flowered courtyard near the Bastille, La Maison Dr Hauschka offers the treatments of the famous eco cosmetics brand. As soon as one enters the space, there’s an immediate sense of serenity and well-being. We definitely recommend the Plenitude treatment, which includes a relaxing foot bath, lymphatic stimulation and a complete face treatment customized for your skin. By appointment only.
A favorite of Parisiennes for decades, the French cosmetics company has opened a plush new city spa. The spacious center, outfitted in a contemporary design in a town-house setting just off the Champs-Élysées, has an indoor pool, a sauna and steam room, exercise rooms and a full range of massage and beauty treatments. Nadia Payot, France’s first female dermatologist, founded the company in 1937, and the signature facial she created is still on the menu ($170). What makes Payot’s treatments different from others is that beyond cleansing and hydrating, a beauty therapist leads the client through some forty-two facial exercises meant to improve muscle tone. Reserve one week in advance for facial or massage. Métro: Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Unveiled in 2011 and nicknamed the “white paradise,” this Philippe Starck–designed sanctuary blends ethereal minimalist design with ultimate comfort. The treatment rooms boast a crisp white color scheme and are adorned with mirrors, while the heavenly heated beds and soft lighting create a cocoon of tranquility. Partnered with Clarins, the spa uses the brand’s classic products as well as a new line of customizable skincare called My Blend by Clarins.
For those feeling a bit worse for the wear, the “anti-jetlag” massage—specially designed to counteract stress and fatigue—is a great way to rejuvenate after a long flight. Adjoining the spa, the pool and white-tiled deck glow beneath a large skylight, which is actually the underside of the central fountain in the hotel’s interior courtyard.
