Before planning a trip to Capri, you have to realize that you’re not going to see and do very much. Rather, in typical resort fashion, you’re going to quickly adapt to the Italian rhythm, which includes days spent pool-, or lido-, side, with the occasional shopping afternoon or spa treatment thrown in. That said, the island does offer a few spectacular sights, including the art-filled Villa San Michele and the archaeological trove Villa Jovis, as well as some challenging and rewarding hikes. For the latter, don’t underestimate the mountainous character of the island; start early, pack lots of sunscreen and water and the addresses of the best lunch spots along the way.
