Argentina is in the Southern Hemisphere, so travelers from North America need to remember the seasonal difference when planning a trip. Summer (December-March) is warm and sunny and a bit humid, with highs in the mid-80s. Fall (April-June) and spring (September-November) are fantastic times to visit, with daytime temperatures of 60˚ to 70˚ F. The July 2007 snowfall was BA’s first since 1918: its normally mild 50˚ to 60˚ F winters (July-September) attract many travelers en route to southern Argentina to ski. High season runs from November to March, so expect to pay peak prices on airfare and hotels. During various weeks and/or weekends between mid-December and February, many well-heeled porteños escape the city’s heat and head to their cooler summer vacation houses or hotels in the nearby coastal town of Punta Del Este, Uruguay. If you’re visiting during that time, consider taking the forty-five-minute flight from BA to spend a few days there as well.
