Diggi House Hotel
91-0141-237-4265
Fiona Caulfield, the author of the Love India travel guide series, recommends:
“Located on a leafy 16-acres in the heart of the city, Diggi House Hotel is the primary residence of an elite Rajput family who has sensitively restored their 170 year-old home. Gajraj Diggi and his wife Mia, are close to opening this hip boutique hotel within the heritage building, which I think may well become the most chic hotel option in the city. The five, 1250 sq ft suites have simple and stylish all white interiors. A fine dining Rajasthani restaurant is planned for the terrace above the majestic Durbar Mahal hall and the alfresco restaurant, Flow, adjacent to the swimming pool is already open.”

Naila Bagh Palace Hotel
91-141-260 7492
Fiona Caulfield, the author of the Love India travel guide series, recommends:
“This palace dates back to 1872, and unlike many of the other havelis and palaces, remains pretty untouched, for the moment. It is richly decorated and quite charming, albeit a little faded. Of the 14 rooms, the Maharaja and the royal Suites were the best choices. At the time of writing, Trivikram Singh Naila, the son of the family, had returned from abroad and was busy re-energizing the main hotel and restoring the family’s hunting lodge, Hawa Bungalow located about 30 minutes from town. Best reached in Trivikram’s vintage jeep, the property is in a stunning location and will be a venue for private events and a romantic couples only stay. Quite magical indeed!”

Niwas Palace Hotel
(91) 141-256 1291
Fiona Caulfield, author of the Love India travel guide series, recommends:
“One of my favorite hotels in the city, I love having drinks on the terrace and enjoy the peace of the orchard and the extensive gardens, splashing in the swimming pool and shopping at the Hot Pink boutique. Built in 1928 as the garden house of the Thakur of Kanota, this heritage property remains family owned. The hotel is spread across three floors and has 37 renovated rooms and suites which are ornately painted and come with period furniture. I recommend any of the four Kanota suites, particularly room 36 with a four-poster bed and dramatically high ceilings. I think these have more charm than either of the large garden suites, of these however room 48, with a heritage feel, is preferred. In terms of rooms, I like room 202 on the second floor, which has a romantic charm and privacy. rooms 51 to 57 on the ground floor are good in the standard category and closer to the pool.
