Fiona Caulfield, author of the Love India travel guides, recommends:
“This opulent restaurant with rich traditional décor, serves lavish Indian cuisine and offers private courtyard dining. At the time of writing, the restaurant was undergoing some licensing challenges at Amber and was only open for private parties so call to check if operational.”

Rambagh Palace Hotel

There are few places more beautiful for lunch or dinner than this hotel’s terrace, with its expansive views over the lawns, fountains and vivid floral borders. In the evening, the Jaipur chic set drops by for drinks at the Polo Bar and to see Rajasthani dancers and musicians performing. On the menu: Indian vegetarian dishes and an international cuisine. The Suvarna Mahal, an overlit, mirrored restaurant with French décor and Indian food, is perhaps an attempt to offer formal dining in this superb hotel. However, dining outdoors at the Verandah Café with stars overhead is definitely the more authentic experience.

Fiona Caulfield, author of the Love India travel guides, recommends:
“One could be forgiven for thinking one was dining at Versailles when in this grand dining room with high ceilings, gilded mirrors and Florentine frescoes, albeit slightly over lit and hence not quite as romantic as it could be. Enjoy royal cuisines from across India with impressive vintage wines, and make sure to dress glamorously and dazzle your dinner companion with your newly acquired jewels.”
