“Traditional romance” might be the best way to describe this resort. Located next door to the Four Seasons, it shares the same white sandy beach, though that’s where similarities end. Built on the site of an ancient Hawaiian fishing village, the 125 thatched-roof bungalows (hales) have no TVs, radios or telephones, and are furnished with handquilted bedspreads and pillows. Every kind of water sport imaginable (kayaking, diving, sailing) is available here, plus a spa, hammocks and two oceanfront dining rooms. Rooms from $660, including three meals a day.
