Book early. Deer Valley has many repeat visitors, so the top places fill up fast. We went last Christmas with our extended family, and when we called in September to reserve places at the ski school, we were put on a waiting list and told we should have called in the summer. Spaces opened up for two days out of six, and we were able to book a great ski instructor (see below) for private lessons for the kids, but call ASAP to secure a spot.
Ship your luggage ahead. FedEx delivers daily to all the hotels and condos, and many guests send their skis and duffel bags ahead and then home again. We did last year, skipping the long lines at both airports for baggage check-in and pickup, which made the trip much more pleasant.
