Dubai’s sub-tropical climate means temperatures ranging anywhere from 50˚F in the winter to 118˚F in summer. For sunny, comfortable 80˚F weather, visit November through March, when it’s sunny and rarely rains. If you’re traveling during the peak summer months (May through September), prepare for heat so intense you won’t want to spend more than five to ten minutes outdoors. However, unlike many cities, Dubai is adequately prepared to deal with the heat: Buildings are well-air-conditioned and hotels and restaurants often place a stack of cool, wet towels infused with sweet-smelling incense at venue entrances and in the bathrooms.
Keep in mind that the UAE is a Muslim country that observes its weekend on Friday (the holy day) and Saturday. Because the city operates nine hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time (eight hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Time), businesses are usually difficult to reach after the U.S.’s Wednesday morning. And like on Sundays in America, Fridays in the UAE mean adjusted operational hours. Consider the region’s different weekend days when you’re planning your trip to Dubai. If you’re coming to do business, be sure to arrive by Saturday night (Sunday is the first working day of the week); if you’re coming for pleasure, you won’t want to miss the vibrant nighttime activity that takes place on Thursday and Friday nights.
