LA HUELLA The spot for lunch in José Ignacio, the beachfront La Huella has a hippie-chic feel, menu of pizza and fresh sushi and fish and is popular with glamorous locals and visitors. Playa Brava, Calles de Los Cisnes
LA SUSANA A more upscale version of La Huella, La Susana has eclectic décor, indoor and outdoor seating and a menu that emphasizes local specialties and seafood. This is a good spot to come with a group and enjoy some afternoon cocktails. Ruta 10 km 182.5
This casual spot has a daily buffet as well as an à la carte menu with dishes such as creamy scrambled eggs with roasted cherry tomatoes. The house specialty is paella. Calle Las Garzas
One of the most famous restaurants in South America, chef Francis Mallman’s Garzón is a 30-minute drive inland from José Ignacio and a must for anyone interested in food. The beautiful restaurant serves elevated but unfussy cuisine like Mallman’s legendary wood-grilled meats and fish. Pueblo Garzón
Reached by boat, this alfresco restaurant has lovely water views and a party vibe. It is owned by the same people as La Huella, so the cuisine is similar. Note: Reservations are for a minimum of 10 people. Laguna Garzón
Set on a vineyard, this phenomenal restaurant offers four- to six-course menus showcasing regional dishes and seasonal products from Uruguay. NARBONA Countryside This restaurant and winery offers delicious local food—homemade wines and cheeses—in a rustic setting. Don’t miss the small wine bar and art gallery adjacent to the restaurant and in summer, nothing beats an asado (a barbecue consisting of a variety of meats and cuts) in the courtyard.
