2, rue Richer
This neo-bistro in the rapidly gentrifying 9th arrondissement pairs Brooklyn-chic décor (exposed brick, formica tables, bare light bulbs, and hardwood floors) with a menu that is 100 percent French. Expertly prepared daily specials along the lines of beef cheeks with cabbage, salsify, and pear or rabbit terrine with apple, ginger, and cabbage are satisfying without being too heavy. The restaurant, which is moderately priced, does not take reservations so come early or be prepared to wait for a table.
