Blending into the hillside overlooking the lush Napali Coastline, 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay opened at the beginning of 2023 on Kaua'i’s north shore after an extensive multi-year overhaul. True to the 1 Hotel ethos, each space within the property has been tastefully curated with sustainability and purpose in mind (highlighting the native spirit found on “the Garden Isle”).

All 252 rooms (including 51 suites) showcase natural elements: think earth tones, reclaimed wood furniture, natural textiles and live plants in every space. Wellness is also a priority, with in-room yoga mats, sustainably-sourced extra-comfortable bedding, water filter taps and reusable water bottles in the bathrooms. Every room offers stunning views of the tropical Napali Coastline, with most looking over the surrounding bay and ocean, as well.

For those drawn to the water, guests can also choose between three pools on property (including an adults-only infinity pool) or direct access to a swimmable beach with numerous activity offerings like stand-up paddleboarding, surfing and snorkeling. The state-of-the-art Bamford Wellness Spa includes an impressive 18 treatment rooms, a cryochamber, sensory deprivation float tank and full salon. 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay offers a range of dining outlets on property. The hotel’s signature restaurant, 1 Kitchen, serves a plant-forward, locally- and sustainably-sourced menu for breakfast and dinner. Or choose to catch the sunset at Welina Terrace, offering modern Japanese fare and an extensive selection of Japanese sake (all from chef Misao Masuda, of Nobu fame). Guests not in the mood to sit and eat can grab light bites and a craft cocktail at one of the two poolside bars, or even a quick gourmet coffee to-go at Neighbors Cafe.
