Review
Sister property of family-favorite Le K2 Altitude, Hotel Le K2 Palace opened its doors in 2011 and quickly became a hotspot within Courchevel’s established hotel scene. Named after the second-highest mountain in the world, Le K2 comprises a collection of connected buildings that house a hotel and a series of ski-in/ski-out chalets ranging from five- to six bedrooms.
Interiors are a striking mix of traditional and contemporary design. The overall aesthetic is muted; grays, whites and beiges dominate the color scheme with accents in red and black. True to its name, Le K2 also features some Tibetan flair, like furry tassels, carved wood and silver embellishments. Also expect to see some interesting, contemporary art installations throughout, such as two giant French bulldog sculptures upon entry to the property. Rooms start at 500 square feet and offer impossibly cozy beds, mountain views and terraces. Bathrooms are spacious with double vanities, large tubs and open-air rain showers. The Prestige Suites have separate living rooms while Family Suites offer annexes with bunk beds.
Le K2 Palace boasts the largest and most impressive resort facilities in all of Courchevel, including a state-of-the-art gym, circular pool that overlooks the mountain-scape and an indulgent children’s center. While kids enjoy the arcade, billiards room, cinema, indoor playground and mock nightclub, adults can pamper themselves at the Goji Spa, choosing from a number of Tibetan-inspired treatments.
Who Should Stay
Families who enjoy a sleek setting and will benefit from a myriad of amenities and emphasis on children. Anyone looking for a cozy, traditional aesthetic and ambiance may be disappointed here.
