Pug Seal

Located in the historic Oaxaca City, Pug Seal is a boutique oasis designed around a central courtyard and decorated with colorful murals by famous Mexican artists. (And it is conveniently within a 15-minute walk of most of Oaxaca’s “musts.”)

Opened in 2022, Pug Seal Oaxaca is a fresh and colorful boutique hotel for the foodies and shoppers exploring Oaxaca.

There are 20 rooms within the property, and while they vary slightly in design, each blends historical architecture, weathered textures and vibrant pops of color. With modern amenities (I fell in love with the bathroom mirror lighting fixtures), a full fridge of local snacks and drinks and a smart TV for when you need a break from exploration, the hotel easily becomes another highlight of a trip to the city.

For breakfast, guests can ask the staff for coffee or espresso and choose between a variation of American classics and Oaxacan favorites. While there is no restaurant on property beyond the breakfast offering, there is a plethora of outstanding cuisine in the surrounding streets.
