Chinese New Year in San Francisco Text Size A A A

The Galleria Park Hotel (www.jdvhotels.com) is launching its GPS program designed to give insider recommendations on different neighborhoods in San Francisco. From January through March, GPS focuses on Chinatown (the largest in North America) and the city’s shopping district Union Square.

The recently renovated Galleria Park Hotel, housed in a 95-year-old landmark building, is offering two packages—the GPS Urbanite and the GPS Town & Country—with behind-the-scenes highlights that include a tour of a fortune cookie factory, theater tickets, a day-long excursion into the wine country and a guided look at Round Pond, a family-owned Napa Valley estate renowned for its sustainably produced wines. If you’re planning a visit, keep in mind that February 18 is Chinese New Year (2008 is the year of the rat), and that the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival is scheduled from March 15-25.

Rates begin at $839 for the Urbanite package (two-night minimum) and $1,799 for the Town & Country package (three-night minimum). Contact 212-988-2611 for more information or to book.
