Indagare in Action: Exotic Itineraries
For summer and holiday vacations, we’ve been working with members on adventurous itineraries in Africa and South America. Destination reports on Tokyo and Budapest.
Plus: Member postcards on hiking the Great Wall, riding the Rovos Rail, dining in Tokyo and on St. Lucia. Plus their tips from family trips in Paris, New York, Costa Rica and Disney World. Discussions on Burma, Brazil and San Miguel Allende and a Q&A with M.A. Sanjayan, a lead scientist for the Nature Conservancy who gets to go the world’s most unspoiled places and sometimes brings others along for trips that you can’t put a price on. Yesterday he began a two-week camel trek across the Namib Desert to the Skeleton Coast. He and the small group with him will cross the very last “intact” desert (one that remains as pristine as it was 200 years ago) and they’ll be the last travelers to do so, as the area will soon be encompassed into a new national park. Before Sanjayan left, I met with him in New York and found out how to join his journeys and got his list of standout spots for beaches and wildlife. Hint: Consider the Coral Sea, Panama, Sri Lanka and Sierra Leone.
