Wright Way New York: Guggenheim Celebration Text Size A A A

Restored to its opening-day glory, the Guggenheim Museum celebrates its 50th anniversary this summer and to commemorate the occasion, the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust is hosting a special tour of architectural marvels in New York City and beyond. Guests will go behind the scenes at Kykuit, the Rockefeller Estate, where a private reception will be hosted. They will also get access to Philip Johnson’s Glass House, the stunning modernist landmark in Connecticut’s New Canaan that is already entirely sold out for regular visits in 2009. Other highlights include Lyndhurst, a beautiful example of Gothic Revival architecture, as well as Radio City Music Hall and St Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan. Of course, the tour also builds in time at the Wright-designed museum, which neither the architect nor Solomon Guggenheim lived to see completed: it took Wright more than a decade and some 700 sketches and six sets of working drawings to create the museum, which opened in 1959, six months after the passing of legendary American architect.

Prices from $3,295, including a four-night stay at the Waldorf Astoria, three lunches, two dinners, all guides, entrance fees and transfers. (First time travelers with Wright Way travels receive a $100 discount.)

To book one of the spots reserved for Indagare members, contact our bookings department by sending an email or calling 212-988-2611.
