Indian Summer: The Secret History of the End of an Empire, Alex Von Tunzelmann, 2007 —This book about the transfer of power from the British Empire to India and Pakistan during the summer of 1947 recounts in objective and witty manner the events that led to the birth of great nations. Ghandi is brought down from his pedestal as an inspiring, eccentric and inflexible moralist. The book keeps an eye on the big picture, but portraits characters—Nerhu, Jinnah and the Mountbattens—with insightful details. A great read!- Paula de la Cruz
