You asked: We’re heading to the Nam Hai in Hoi An, Vietnam over the holidays and would love advice on what to do while there. J.S.

WHAT TO SEE & DO

Hoi An is known for its crafts and Hai Ba Trung and along Hoang Dieu streets are packed with shops selling silks, embroidered cotton, ceramics and all sorts of housewares. Many of the shops sell the same thing, so browse before buying and bargain on price. Many of the silk and cotton makers will make custom clothes. It’s best to bring a favorite style you like to have copied in a fabric of your choice. They can usually make them in one or two days, so you can pick them up. However, the larger shops will also ship internationally if you wanted embroidered linens for example. Handicraft Workshop 9 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Hoi An.
