The Power of Community Text Size A A A

Following Tiffany Schauer’s blog about her visit to a Burmese orphanage, a flood of donations arrived, which was used to purchase food and supplies for the children. The email below shows the impact of this community’s generosity – and the problems the director continues to face.

Dear Tiffany,

I hope you and your family and colleagues are all good of health. I am sending you some pictures of the pipe and other things for P’ Yan Daw school and the desk for Naw Bo Deh school that you have helped buy for these two schools. I will send you the receipt the next time because we have not bought everything yet. These two schools are running well and the students have nearly finished the first term examination test. Within this month, on the 7th, one of our migrant schools, which is situated in Umpang area close to the Thai-Burma border line was burnt down by DKBA (Democratic Karen Buddhist Army) and not only the school but also the migrant workers’ houses were burnt down as well. And two of our schools had to be closed down, one is a migrant school and another one is IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) school. We are not sure that these two schools will be able to run again. Thank you so much for you kind support to our children. May God bless and fulfil your needs.

All the best,

Dau Wah
