St.-Tropez: Where to Stay: Family Friendly: Hôtel Le Beauvallon
Hôtel Le Beauvallon
A twenty-minute drive from St.-Tropez, between Grimaud and Ste.-Maxime, this Belle Epoque palace is a perfect choice if you’re traveling with kids. Set on a hill and framed by umbrella pines, the red-ocher property has a private park, a large outdoor pool and a sandy beach where you can enjoy every water sport imaginable. Splurge on one of the junior studio suites with terraces facing the sea, or the sumptuous Suite Terrasse. You may not be in the thick of the action—though golf aficionados will enjoy the eighteen-hole Golf de Beauvallon that is practically next door—but the hotel has a free speedboat shuttle service, bringing guests to the Pampelonne beaches and the harbor in under ten minutes. There’s a beach near the hotel where the shallow water is ideal for small children. (They’ll also like the special children’s menus and the on-site mini–movie theater, with child-friendly screenings.) It’s easy to feel as if you’ve stepped back in time at Le Beauvallon, which draws travelers who favor true relaxation over the see-and-be-seen scene across the bay. Rooms from $465.
