Green/Eco: Places: Lapa Rios

Lapa Rios

Built as a private nature reserve by an American couple, Lapa Rios sits on 1,000 protected acres of spectacular rainforest overlooking the Pacific Ocean’s Golfo Dulce, so it offers both jungle and beach activities. The main lodge, where meals are served, affords a view over the forest canopy. The sixteen thatch-roofed cottages are outfitted with bamboo furniture. Activities include horseback riding, hiking, bird-watching, kayaking and fishing. Rooms from $440.
