Sweet Treats in Chicago
Katrina Markoff, the founder of Vosges Haut-Chocolat on her favorites pastry stops in Chicago:
“The best French pastries in Chicago is at Vanille (www.vanillepatisserie.com), which doesn’t have a lot of atmosphere but phenomenal cakes. For a taste of Mexico, try a bite of the “Tres Leches” cake sold at Bombon (1508 West 18th; 312-733-7788) in the Pilsen neighborhood. “Avec:/destinations/110/departments/57#article_4278 is a good place for excellent small plates like chorizo-stuffed dates and taleggio focaccia. And of course you have to visit our Vosges Haut-Chocolat boutiques (951 West Armitage and 520 N. Michigan Ave.). At the Michigan Avenue boutique, we do a wine and chocolate pairing as well as a flight of drinking chocolates.”
