St. Lucia: Introduction: What's New: St. Lucia Update
St. Lucia Update
From Stephanie Pliakas who recently returned from a trip to St. Lucia with her husband, Harry:
“Harry and I really enjoyed our dinners at the Anse Chastanet and at Ladera, where we also got spa treatments. St. Lucia is a beautiful island—how to describe the Pitons?—but I’m not sure I’d want to go back, to be completely honest. I found it ridiculously overpriced and expensive to get around. Our hotel, Jalouise, was set on the most stunning beach with great snorkeling (better than the reef at Anse Chastenet, in my opinion), but the food and service were horrible. We ended up eating dinner out every night, from Rodney Bay in the north to Vieux Fort in the south.
Our favorite restaurants overall were the Mango Tree at Stonefield Estate (www.stonefieldvillas.com), near Jalousie, which had the most amazing setting for sunset and a great barbecue night on Thursdays; Debbie’s (near the airport), which served home-cooked food with around ten small bowls of side dishes (from fish cakes to fried plantains) accompanying each main course; and the Coal Pot, which I learned about from Indagare.”
