Tokyo: Where to Eat: Neighborhood Places: Gonpachi

Gonpachi

A little on the theme-ish side—the idea is to replicate a feudal castle from the days when shoguns ruled the land and samurai carried out their commands—Gonpachi is fun nonetheless. It is basically pub-style fare, such as soba noodles and chicken and pork on skewers. The waiters dress in traditional costumes, the seating is on benches at rustic tables, and the sake keeps on flowing. Among the recent renowned visitors was President George W. Bush.
