New York: Where to Stay: Business: Gild Hall

Gild Hall

New York’s Financial District has never been a popular place to stay. But for many business travelers, who spend the majority of time in meetings, a good location close to the office trumps all else. These types will be happy to hear about the opening of Gild Hall, the newest property from Thompson Hotels. Located in the heart of downtown’s canyons, this hip new hotel offers well-priced accommodations conveniently placed near Wall Street. The rooms may not be huge, but they offer plenty of space for the executive on the go plus nice additions like Frette robes and free wireless. The management has made clever use of their limited space by transforming housekeeping closets on some floors into mini-gyms with a treadmill, an elliptical and free weights. Once lobby renovations are complete, guests will also have access to Todd English’s new gastro-pub—a good place to grab a quick meal or relax over a drink at the end of the day. Although the neighborhood still remains mostly quiet after dark, this new addition is bound to bring a dose of vitality to the area. Rates from $319.

Note: book a room either below the eighth floor or on the penthouse level, where extra high ceilings make even the smaller rooms feel much more spacious.
