Iceland: Strategies: When to Go
Located within easy travel distance of the East Coast of the United States, the U.K. and Europe, Iceland has become a popular destination, particularly in the summer, when the sun sets for only a few hours. To avoid running into bus tours and the masses spilling from the large cruise ships, come in May, September or early October, when the weather is moderate and the landscapes lush and beautiful. I visited in March, and even though it was cold, temperatures never dropped below those in my native New York, and there were blues skies and bright sunshine every day.
